Orthodontics for Children and Adults

We recommend an orthodontic screening for children by 6 or 7 years of age. It is important to make an early assessment of how your child's teeth are erupting as well as the size and alignment of the growing jawbone.

Current practices are to help children "grow into" their smiles with proper expansion and alignment of growing bones in addition to traditional bands, brackets and wires to straighten teeth. It is also important to check their tonsils and tongue position to assure that proper space is available for speech development and airway space. Each case is different, and depending upon the degree of correction necessary, we use either neuromuscular or traditional orthodontics to correct identified malocclusions.

Similarly, for adults, each case is different. While many adults can benefit from Invisalign or traditional orthodontics to achieve a better smile, others necessitate neuromuscular orthodontic correction. We will carefully examine each patient and use all of our diagnostic tools and experience to determine which orthodontic solution will be best.

Invisalign

Forget everything you've heard about teeth straightening. Invisalign is a breakthrough smile technology you have always wanted without bands, brackets or wires. Instead, it is the invisible way to straighten teeth using a series of custom-made, nearly undetectable aligners.

Upon an initial examination, we can tell if Invisalign is right for you. If you are a candidate your treatment plan is written and digital scans of your teeth are taken and submitted to Invisalign. These are carefully translated, along with our instructions, to fabricate a series of precisely customized aligners. You wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, moving your teeth, gradually - week by week, millimeter by millimeter - until you've achieved a beautiful result. Generally, you visit us no more than you would with traditional metal braces and the length of treatment is about the same.

Without all the traditional bands, brackets and wires, Invisalign is comfortable. You can remove the aligners for eating, brushing and flossing so perfect dental health is maintained. With Invisalign, there's nothing to hide!
